Competition

Competition. It drives our economy, pushes us to be better, and is a cornerstone of the American Dream.

Right now, many people in Wake County are engaged in the fight of their lives. We're competing for jobs and opportunities. We're doing our best to make sure that we're not the first generation that makes things harder on the next.

In the State House, we can’t solve the global economic crisis. But that doesn’t mean we need to sit back and wring our hands, nor is it responsible to try to pin the blame on others.  We have in North Carolina the resources and the potential to create new jobs and ignite economic growth. But it's not enough to rest upon our reputation or to hope that one-size-fits-all solutions will somehow turn things around.  We need leadership and vision to fight to get the job done. I've done my best to be that leader.

Our Campaign is in Full Swing

Summer is in full swing, and so is my campaign to return to the NC House of Representatives. Since I was just appointed to the NC House this past fall, I am working hard to learn how I can represent you better.

I am just completing my first session, and I have been busy working to create jobs, preserve quality public education, and protect working families in our state. You can learn how by reading my latest newsletter here.

I grew up in Wake County and attended the public schools and universities here. I want my kids to grow up with the same educational and economic opportunities I had. And I want them to grow up in a healthy environment with clean air and water. That’s why I sought the appointment, and that’s why I want to keep working for you.

Throughout my career I have fought for economic development and cleaner, better government. While some people talk about jobs and fighting corruption, I have a real record on jobs and reform, and I hope to share this record with you and other voters in the months ahead.

Thank you for your support – we have a lot of work ahead of us, but with your help, we will be successful.

NEWS & OBSERVER, RALEIGH, 10/21/2009

The ordinary golfer’s fantasy is to be summoned inside the tournament ropes. In the political world, it might be said that Chris Heagarty has just gotten the call and is heading for the teebox, driver in hand.

Wake NCAE Endorses Heagarty

The Wake County chapter of the N.C. Association of Educators announced Friday that it is endorsing Chris Heagarty to fill the seat of former state Rep. Ty Harrell.

Democratic Party leaders who live in the district, which covers much of western Wake County, will meet and elect a replacement today from at least nine candidates. Harrell resigned in September amid a campaign-finance investigation.

Heagarty Nominated to Replace Harrell in State House

RALEIGH — Chris Heagarty spent seven years helping to shape the process of casting votes, and now he’ll be campaigning for them as the newest member of the N.C. House of Representatives.
